The temple is a special place in the middle of our village. Surrounded by several rocks, the temple is a beautiful sight. "Pethiyagla Rajamaha Viharaya" is our temple. This is a temple of historical value. At present there are about 30 monks living in temple. Among them are about 12 young monks. They do a great service to enrich the villagers with Dhamma. The monks help the villagers whenever there is a disaster. Our temple has an indelible history. There are several caves in the rock of the temple as evidence of human habitation in the past. 

The drips in the rock to prevent water from entering the cave during the rating season area amazing. Legend  has it that in the past, kings used these caves to protect themselves from enemy invasions. At present a Dhamma School as well as a Pirivena are being run in the temple. The river flowing below the temple further illuminates the temple. The chief incumbent as well as the temple are making great efforts to uplift the temple.
