Our school days are a wonderful time we will never have  again. My school is Polpithigama National School.  My school has about 1700 students and about 65 teachers. The school was started in 1899 under the name of Swabhasha Boys' Course under the leadership of a principal named Ranbanda. The school was held in a small shed with 6 children and one teacher. In 1901 there were 71 children and one teacher.
It was renamed as Polpithigama Kanishta Vidyalaya in 1940 and Kithsiri Maha Vidyalaya in 1960 and became a popular school in the area. In 1980 it was renamed as Polpithigama Maha Vidyalaya, in the same year it was renamed as Polpithigama Central College and in 1994 it was renamed as polpithigama National School Which is still in use today. My school has produced veterans in a variety of fields. I'm proud to be a past pupil of Polpithigama National School.
